Father and son team, Geoff and Scott Angel and their families share a commitment and passion for the cattle industry and the Brahman breed in particular. “Glengarry” is a family owned and operated stud and commercial cattle enterprise. Geoff and Scott are proud to point out they are third generation working the property. Approximately 8000 acres in area, Glengarry is located 65 kilometres north of Rockhampton on the Bruce Highway. When people learn the stud breeding females are kept at a base number of only 200, they are somewhat surprised. This is brought about by keeping a tight reign on all breeders to ensure they fit the stringent criteria set by Geoff and Scott.
Geoff registered the stud in 1980 and the first cattle were shown in 1987 under the Glengarry prefix. They have enjoyed success in the show ring winning at the Royal Brisbane Show and taking home championships from Beef Expo’s and consistently excelling at many other shows throughout Queensland.
In the early 1990’s Geoff and Scott imported 4 bulls and 1 heifer which enabled them to infuse new bloodlines into the herd. However, more recently they have concentrated on purchasing cattle on the local market, as well as utilizing “Glengarry” genetics. They have always been able to find a well bred bull/female that will “perform”. This evidence is confirmation that Australian Brahman Breeding has grown into a successful, well established industry.
